China under the Tang: a golden era (7th-10th c. AD)
Byzantine and Christian Museum
Exploring the China of the Tang Dynasty
The exhibition comprised of four main units. The first had as its subject the Palaces and Administration, the second explored the diplomatic and commercial relations of the Tang Dynasty with other peoples (Towards the West), the third evolved around the concept of Afterlife (Life after Death), while the last one was dedicated to Buddhism.
Each unit contained texts speaking of the Chinese civilization and what was happening to the corresponding area in Byzantium. In that way, the visitor could realize the parallel routes of the two empires.
