Timeline of Selected BCM Exhibitions until 2010
The public's response
The exhibition had tremendous success. As an example, in the exhibition's last day the Museum had to extend its working hours in order to accommodate the long queues of visitors. The appeal and the public's interest in the exhibition vindicated the efforts of all the people who worked for months for its organization.
Events and publications accompanying the exhibition
An analytical Catalogue was prepared for the exhibition, with extensive introductory texts by distinguished Byzantinists and detailed lemmas for all the exhibits. Also, a special educational pamphlet was issued, that provided a general presentation of the articulated exhibition "Byzantine Hours". At the same time, exhibition tours and educational programmes were taking place, while a series of talks was given by distinguished scientists of the field. Finally, in parallel with the exhibition, the Department of Byzantine Studies of the National Research Institute organized the 16th International Symposium of the National Research Institute, with the title "Byzantium as Oecumene", with the participation of leading international experts on the field of the political ideology of Byzantium.
