Timeline of Selected BCM Exhibitions until 2010
The exhibition step-by-step
The exhibition had four sections. The first was dedicated to the concept of "Oecumene" and the idea of Ecumenicity. The second examined the idea of ecumenical sovereignty of the Byzantine emperor, which was expressed through the rich and luxurious life in the Palace. The third focused on the officials of the court, those that carried the emperor's power and will as far as the empire's borders. The fourth section was occupied with the effect of the Byzantine ideology on other peoples, and had three sub-sections: politics, religion, where Byzantium asserted its ecumenical power through the Christianization of other people, and artistic production.
