Timeline of Selected BCM Exhibitions until 2010
Highlighting the heritage of Byzantium
The exhibition constituted a breakthrough in the Museum's policy as regards exhibitions. Although it was a temporary exhibition, it was incorporated in the presentation sequence of its permanent collections. The room in which it was hosted, at the exit of the permanent exhibition, is designed to host temporary exhibitions that aim to link the Byzantine and post-Byzantine cultural heritage with the 19th c. and 20th c. as well as contemporary artistic production. The exhibition "Byzantium and modern art. The perception of Byzantine Art in the Greek painting of the first half of the 20th century" followed in chronological order the last part of the permanent exhibition which refers to the 19th century.
