Between the two apostles there is a cross with a depiction of The Akra Tapeinosis (Man of Sorrows).This image is associated with the treaty establishing the union of the Eastern and Western Churches at the Council of Lyons on 29 June 1245, the date of meeting of the two apostles. Its stylistic features suggest that it dates from the late 14th century.
