In the icon Christ dominates the center of the composition. He is trampling on the gates of the Hell and he pulls the resurrected Adam out of a marble sarcophagus with his right hand. Eve is depicted behind him with her hands covered and stretched out in supplication. The scene is complemented on the left side by a group of Righteous.
